Though major media outlets have not yet called a winner in Georgia’s remaining U.S. Senate runoff election, Democrat Jon Ossoff’s campaign said early Wednesday morning that it is certain, “when all the votes are counted,” he will have defeated Republican incumbent David Perdue.

Yes, says, Michael Brewer, a spokesman for the minister’s campaign, “if elected he will remain senior pastor.”
Marla Frederick, professor of religion and culture at Emory University’s Candler School of Theology, told Religion News Service that an active pastor would not be unknown in the political life on Capitol Hill. “There are models for doing both/and,” she said.
“The pastorate is one of these careers, these callings, if you will, where you have to stay in such close contact with everyday people and their concerns,” said Frederick.

Jon Ossoff is the projected winner of Georgia’s U.S. Senate runoff election, according to NBC and ABC, defeating GOP Sen. David Perdue and delivering Democrats control of the upper chamber, clearing a path for them to carry out President-elect Joe Biden’s agenda.
Georgia has been the political focus of the country after candidates in both the state’s Senate races failed to secure a majority of the votes in November, triggering runoff elections in January. Democrat Raphael Warnock, the senior pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, won his race against Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R) in the other Senate contest.
