GIKI launches service for students mental health

SWABI: A UNDP-sponsored Wellness Centre to offer online counselling services for mental health and wellbeing of the students was inaugurated at the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology on Wednesday.
GIK Institute is the first private sector university that has established the centre.
After the outbreak of COVID-19, marred by frequent closure of educational institutions and starting of online classes, the students faced difficulties, anxiety and in some cases even depression around the world.
The governments and educational institutions started introducing measures to carry research on impact, frequency and severity of psychological and other mental health issues of the students.

From Rivers Edge, New Jersey, Matty is graduating with a BFA in film and animation. His work has been featured in 12 films. Nine of them were selected for the Honors Show within the School of Fine Arts (SoFA) or other awards. Matty’s professional experience also includes working as a teaching assistant and at RIT’s Telefund, where he secured more than $25,000 for the university in donations. Additionally, he served as the treasurer of the RIT Film, Video, Animation Student Association. Following graduation, Matty plans to pursue a career in film and animation.

GMU Virtual Global Day 2021: 86 nationalities come together

Gulf Medical University (GMU)’s Global Day on 15 March saw students and staff from 86 countries come together to celebrate their cultural diversity.
The event, organized by the Student Affairs Department of GMU (owned by Thumbay Group), was held virtually this year and saw more than 1000 students, staff and their families and friends attend.
Chief Guest Prof. Hossam Hamdy, Chancellor of GMU, said the Global Day helped reinforce the university’s ‘Unity in Diversity’ ethos, with diverse healthcare professions expressing their diverse cultures and learning from one another. Students exhibited food and costumes showcasing their culture and history.

Ajman, Mar 17: Diverse healthcare professions expressing their diverse cultures and learning from one another. The event gives the students an opportunity to display the essence of their ethnicities and cultures .
The annual Global Day celebrations organized by the Student Affairs Department of Gulf Medical University (GMU) owned by the Thumbay Group– a leading medical university in the region-were celebrated virtually with a limited audience in person, on March 15.
Organized every year to appreciate the cultural diversity of the students and staff of GMU, the event was a convergence of culture and traditions of the 86 nationalities that form the student cohort of GMU.

In celebration of International Women’s Day, an opportunity to recognise the achievements of women and the worldwide need for greater gender equity, Raquel Kasham Daniel, was recognised for her works in marginalised communities in Nigeria, with her focus on education for children and sexual and reproductive health for adolescent girls through her nonprofit, Beyond the Classroom Foundation.
