Montrose School sophomores win state history competition

MEDFIELD Elizabeth Barrett and Elyza Tuan, both Montrose School class of 2023, recently won first place in Senior Group Performance in Massachusetts’ annual National History Day competition, held virtually in April.
“We are excited to have the chance to further improve our performance for nationals and to showcase our research to more people,” Barrett said.
They earned top honors for their history project, “Pageant of Great Suffragettes: The Evolution of Violence as a Means of Communication Toward Progress in Feminism.” Barrett and Tuan now head to the national round, also to be held remotely this year, scheduled for June 13-19.

MEDFIELD, MA A Montrose School senior won a top prize in the annual English Speaking Union National Shakespeare Competition.
The competition was held virtually on April 26, and while representing Massachusetts, Anna Sheehan placed second among 10 national finalists for her dramatic interpretations of Robin from A Midsummer Night s Dream and Sonnet 2.
After competing in the annual contest since her freshman year at Montrose, Sheehan enjoyed her first appearance at the national level.
Subscribe The moment when I was most excited during the whole competition was when they announced that I made it to the finals, Sheehan said. That meant I got to perform again.
