Sister of slain journalist murdered in Hattar Peshawar May 6, 2021 HARIPUR: The sister of a slain journalist was murdered in Hattar village here on Wednesday, police sources said. According to the police, the real sister of slain journalist Sohail Khan was gunned down by the members of the family’s rival group. The police quoted Farrukh Khan, the younger brother of late Sohail Khan, as saying that Mussarat Iqbal and his son Humayun barged into their home and opened fire on his sister Rida Bibi, 28, a mother of two, injuring her seriously. The accused managed to escape after the firing. The injured was shifted to the Rural Health Centre Kotnajibullah where she succumbed to bullet injuries.

Suspect who caused woman to kill herself seeks post-arrest bail

Karachi May 2, 2021 A model court on Friday adjourned the hearing of a bail application moved by one of the six suspects jailed in a case pertaining to alleged blackmailing of a woman that inducing her to commit suicide. The Model Criminal Court – Central judge put off the hearing till May 3, seeking arguments from the prosecution on the bail application filed by an interned suspect, Irtiza. Six suspects were booked for their alleged involvement in blackmailing and harassing a 41-year-old married woman who killed herself by hanging herself with her dupatta from a ceiling fan. The investigation officer said the suspects were arrested in connection with the victim’s death. He added that the woman in her last audio messages to a friend had named the suspects saying that they had been harassing her.

According to the prosecution, Sami alias Pappu had killed Nayab Ali and injured his wife Nabila after he barging into their residence in Surjani Town in 2017. During the trial, the accused claimed that he was innocent and was falsely implicated in the case by the police after he failed to bribe the personnel. Pronouncing the verdict, the Model Criminal Court - West judge observed that the prosecution successfully proved the charges against the defendant, who could not prove his innocence.
