Speaking at a rally in Matua-dominated Kalyani in Nadia district Modi said, Didi did not like my going to Orakandi in Bangladesh where the founder of the Matua sect and social reformer Harichand Thakur was born. She raised questions over my visit.I have come to assure you today that all refugees will get all facilities due to them, they will get justice. For the BJP, providing justice to all refugees, Matua and Namasudra brothers, is also an emotional commitment.
The CBI is investigating the allegations of extortion made by Singh against Deshmukh. On Friday, the agency had recorded the statement of Mahesh Shetty, a bar owner who is close to suspended Mumbai police officer Sachin Waze, in the same matter. The Supreme Court, on Thursday, had dismissed the petitions filed by Deshmukh challenging the Bombay High Court order directing a preliminary enquiry by the CBI into the allegations of corruption and misconduct levelled against him by Singh. Deshmukh tendered his resignation to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on April 5 after the Bombay High Court order. The court also directed the agency to register an FIR if any cognisable offence is found.
Five people were rescued from a house fire in south Delhi s Greater Kailash locality early Sunday, the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) said. A DFS official said information regarding the blaze was received at 4.18 am and four fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The fire originated at the first floor of the building in Greater Kailash-2 and trapped those living above, the official said. Five people were rescued safely from the second floor and they have been identified as Shivani (27), Bharat (35), Naveet (31), C R Ram (60) and Romil (57), a senior fire official said. In a separate incident, a major fire broke out at Shastri Park area of the national capital late Saturday night, the official said.
The Maharashtra government has decided to set up district-level control rooms to ensure smooth supply of Remdesivir injections and prevent hoarding and black-marketing of the drug, officials said on Sunday. Remdesivir is considered a key medicine in the fight against COVID-19, especially in adult patients with severe complications. The state is facing multiple issues pertaining to the drug, like demand-supply gap, its hoarding and black-marketing by stockists and pharmacy shops, unaffordable prices and irrational prescription by some doctors. Maharashtra s health services commissioner Ramaswami N, in a letter dated April 9, has written to all district collectors in the state to set up control rooms to streamline the supply of the key anti-viral drug.
