Load shedding in Delhi lowest in last two decades, says Economic Survey

Load shedding in the national capital has dropped to 0.03 per cent of the total consumption, the lowest in the last two decades, according to the Delhi Economic Survey report. The development comes even as the number of electricity consumers in the city grew by 81.74 per cent during the decade, it said. The report was tabled by Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the Delhi Assembly on Monday. Delhi, being an urban place with high load density, has seen the electricity consumption increasing from 25,668 MUs in 2010-11 to 33,082 MUs in 2019-20 . The total power purchase in Delhi has grown by 21.37 per cent during the last ten years (from 2009-10 to 2019-20). The power purchased in Delhi has increased from 32,744 MU in 2010-11 to 35,419 MU in 2019-20, the report said.

Nothing new in Budget, attempt to appropriate Central schemes: Fadnavis

Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly Devendra Fadnavis on Monday said the MVA government s Budget only attempts to appropriate the Centre s ongoing schemes rather than introducing fresh projects. Finance Minister Ajit Pawar presented a budget with revenue deficit of Rs 10,226 crore and revenue expenditure of Rs 3,79,213 crore in the Assembly earlier in the day. The state government has conveniently forgotten to mention that several schemes it announced today had already been announced by the Centre, the BJP leader told reporters. It is a disappointing attempt to appropriate the Centre s schemes, he said. I was surprised to find that there was no announcement of one-time-settlement for farmers with outstanding loans of upto Rs 2 lakh. Some 45 per cent of farmers who were not covered in previous crop loan waiver got nothing from today s budget, Fadnavis claimed.

Maha can t afford to lose oil refinery project: Raj to Uddhav

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) president Raj Thackeray has written to state Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, urging him to ensure that the oil refinery project that was proposed to be set up at Nanar village in coastal Ratnagiri district, does not go out of the state. In the past, Raj Thackeray had opposed this project and supported the local villagers, who were against it. Some time ago, I read that a major international project was passed on to Bengaluru and the Maharashtra government was trying its best to get it back. The other states are in a cut-throat game of snatching projects from Maharashtra. In such trying times, Maharashtra should not let go of the Ratnagiri Rajapur refinery project, the MNS chief said in his letter to the CM, his estranged cousin, who is also the Shiv Sena president.
