Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday raised the love jihad issue in poll-bound Kerala, slamming successive LDF and UDF governments for not enacting any legislation to check it despite strong court observation . Though the Kerala High Court had made observations against forceful religious conversion under the guise of love in 2009, the subsequent state governments were sleeping , he said, kicking off the BJP s campaign for the assembly polls in the state, likely by April-May. He also alleged that the governments headed by the CPI (M) and the Congress in the state indulged in corruption activities and had not done anything for the people.
Amit Mitra on Sunday accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of giving misinformation about disbursement of funds by the Centre to the state during a political rally and challenged him for a debate. He said the state government had received Rs 1.13 lakh crore from the Centre in the last six years, which is nothing more than one-third of what the Union minister claimed . Shah, in his recent visit to the poll-bound West Bengal, had reportedly said the Centre provided Rs 3.59 lakh crore to the state. He has given wrong, misleading and politically-motivated information. The Centre, as a part of the federal structure, collects taxes from states and shares. We had received only Rs 1.13 lakh crore in the last 6 years (FY14 to FY20), Mitra told reporters.
The average air quality was recorded in the poor category across Ghaziabad, Noida, Greater Noida, Faridabad and Gurgaon, according to data issued by a government agency on Sunday. The average 24-hour AQI at 4pmon Sunday was 260 in Ghaziabad, 300 in Greater Noida, 251 in Noida, 264 in Faridabad and 297 in Gurgaon, according to CPCB s Sameer app.
