COVID-19 Hospital Admissions On The Rise As The Christmas Holiday Approaches
According to ABC 7, Antelope Valley Hospital workers are horrified after discovering a COVID-19 patient violently beaten to death by another COVID-19 patient.
The murder happened just a few days ago on December 17 and investigators say the man in the COVID-19 unit beat another man in his 80s with an oxygen tank. The victim died following the attack.
The hospital says the motive for the attack is unclear. And the suspect was arrested on the scene and charged with murder.

A COVID-19 patient beat a fellow patient to death with an oxygen tank last week at Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster, authorities said.
The victim, an 82-year-old Latino man, was being treated for a COVID-19 infection in a two-person room with suspect Jesse Martinez, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Martinez, 37, reportedly became upset when the victim, a Catholic, started to pray. He then struck his octogenarian roommate with an oxygen tank just before 10 a.m. Thursday, the Sheriff’s Department said.
The victim died the following morning from his injuries. According to the Sheriff’s Department, the two men did not know each other.
The crime occurred about 9:45 a.m. Dec. 17 at the facility, where both men were being treated for COVID-19, the sheriff s department reported. (The victim) was housed in a two-person room inside the hospital with the suspect, who was also there receiving treatment, a sheriff s department statement said. The suspect became upset when the victim started to pray. He then struck the victim with an oxygen tank.
The name of the 82-year-old victim, who died the following day, was withheld, pending notification of his relatives.
The victim and suspect did know one another, the sheriff s department reported.
