Manchester United’s Premier League match against Liverpool was postponed on Sunday after United fans forced their way into the stadium and stormed the Old Trafford pitch to protest against the club’s owners – the Glazer family.

MANCHESTER: Police have launched an investigation after an officer required emergency hospital treatment following the protest that led to the postponement of Manchester United’s Premier League clash at home to Liverpool.
Fans invaded Old Trafford and went onto the pitch on Sunday as part of a protest against United’s owners, the US-based Glazer family.
Hundreds of fans managed to make their way into the ground, chanting “we want Glazers out.”

Manchester: One Manchester United fan has been arrested following protests by the Red Devils supporters on Sunday.
Manchester United s Premier League clash against Liverpool on Sunday had to be postponed after fans entered Old Trafford and onto the pitch to express their anger towards the club s owners. The fans even went on to target the Lowry Hotel, where the United players were staying, and blocked the team from making it to the stadium. Six police officer injuries have been reported so far with one officer receiving a fractured eye socket, requiring medical treatment, and another sustained a wound to his face, following bottles and cans being thrown from the crowd. A third officer was dragged and kicked. The officer who attended hospital has since been discharged, Greater Manchester Police said in an official statement.

Politicians have come out on Monday to condemn the protests.
Police said bottles and barriers were thrown at officers with one requiring emergency hospital treatment for a “significant slash wound” to the face.
The Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, said: There is no excuse for the actions of a minority who injured police officers and endangered the safety of others.
And Nigel Huddleston, Minister for Tourism and Sport said: We understand the frustrations, but the violence by a small minority of fans at Old Trafford yesterday was unacceptable.

Ugly scenes at Manchester United’s Premier League clash against Liverpool which left a police officer needing emergency hospital treatment have been condemned as “completely unacceptable” by police representatives.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed that two officers were injured with one officer being “attacked with a bottle and sustaining a significant slash wound to his face, requiring emergency hospital treatment”.
It happened after around 100 fans stormed the pitch at Old Trafford ahead of the game in protest at Manchester United’s American owners, the Glazer family.
