Seaside Park NJ sex offender accused of failing to tell cops he moved

View Comments TOMS RIVER - A Seaside Park man, who is a convicted sex offender, has been charged with failing to register his updated home address with police under Megan s Law, police said in a news release. Thomas Lockhart, 61, was arrested Tuesday after an investigation revealed he was living at the Desert Palm Motel in Seaside Park and then allegedly moved without informing authorities, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer.  On Wednesday, after a warrant was issued for Lockhart s arrest, Manchester Township Police performed a motor vehicle stop on his vehicle and he was taken to jail without incident, authorities said.

Get our free mobile app The driver was stopped at the intersection of Myrtle Place and Schoolhouse Road around 8:30 am when police said Patricia Roberts, 73, of Forked River suffered a possible medical episode causing her to step on the gas, sending the vehicle across Schoolhouse Road and in between two houses. The Hyundai Santa Fe ended up hitting some bushes, a gutter and struck an aluminum awning before continuing and then hitting the back corner of a home on Bellhaven Court. Roberts was conscious and alert when police arrived on scene and had been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.

Whiting man pleads guilty to vehicular homicide in 2018 accident, cops say

MANCHESTER - A township man has pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide and driving under the influence in connection with a 2018 accident in Lacey, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said Thursday. William Orr, 70, of the Whiting section of the township, was traveling westbound on Lacey Road about 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 28, 2018, when his vehicle drifted into the opposing lane and struck another vehicle head-on, police said. The driver of the other car, Elizabeth Patashinsky, 40, of Palm Bay, Florida, was later pronounced dead at Community Medical Center in Toms River. The passenger, William Muset, 66, of Whiting, was taken to the same hospital, where he was treated for his injuries and released, authorities said.
