The body of a newborn baby has been found in the Grand Union Canal in Willesden, police have said.

Emergency services were called at just before 1.20pm on Sunday (May 9) to the body of an infant found in the water near to Old Oak Lane.
The baby was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are appealing for a mother to get medical help after her newborn baby was found dead in the Grand Union Canal.
Police were called to the stretch of water Old Oak Lane, in Willesden to the grim discovery at 1.20pm.
Cordons remain in place along the canal towpath which is a popular cycling route.
A worker at a canalside restaurant said: “The police and fireman were here but I can’t say anything more.”
One eyewitness told the Mail Online police were having to “turn lots of people away’”

The body of a newborn baby has been found in the Grand Union Canal in north-west London.
The Metropolitan Police said officers and paramedics were called at just before 1.20pm on Sunday to the body of an infant found in the water near to Old Oak Lane. The baby was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation is under way to establish the circumstances, the force said. A number of cordons are in place at the scene.
