The National Park Service mask requirement for all employees and visitors was announced by the Department of Interior in a news release Tuesday afternoon. Getting outside and enjoying our public lands is essential to improving mental and physical health, but we all need to work together to recreate responsibly, said NPS Office of Public Health Director Captain Sara Newman, in the release.

(KOLD News 13) - The National Park Service began accepting applications for noncommercial river trip permits to raft the Colorado River through Grand Canyon National Park on Monday, Feb. 1. The permits are for specific launch dates within calendar year 2022. A total of 246 permits will be available for 12- to 25-day river trips. Eligible individuals may apply online at the weighted lottery website. Applications will be accepted online through noon Mountain Standard Time on Feb. 23.
