The Arizona Department of Health Services reported 2,426 new cases of COVID-19 throughout the state and 172 additional deaths related to the virus.
The state has administered 1,096,126 COVID vaccines to Arizonans.
In Yuma County, 28,059 residents have received the vaccine. In La Paz County, 3,581 residents have received the vaccine.
Feb. 11
The Yuma County Health District reported 24 new cases today and 5 additional deaths related to COVID-19.
It brings the total number of cases countywide to 35,907 and deaths to 750.
As of 8 a.m. Thursday, there were 60 patients hospitalized at Yuma Regional Medical Center and 26 in the intensive care unit.
As of Jan. 24 the percentage of positive tests for Yuma County was at 16%.

All 20 images were the winners of the first ever annual Nature s best Photography National Parks Photo competition and were the top 20 placed images chosen from more than 3,000 entries.

Woman Goes Missing While on Hike in Yosemite National Park

Investigators are looking for a woman who went missing while on a hike in the Yosemite National Park in California.
A statement on the national park s Facebook page over the weekend said that Alice Yu Xie has been missing since she went on a day hike to the Upper Yosemite Fall overlook on 15 or 16 January last week.
Xie is described as a 41-year-old Asian female, who is less than 5 feet tall, less than 100 pounds, and has neck-length black hair.

Man sentenced to prison after violent altercation in Grand Canyon National Park
Following an investigation by Special Agents of the National Park Service Investigative Services Branch (ISB) and US Park Rangers, a man has been sentenced to serve time in prison for disorderly conduct-fighting and interfering with agency functions by resisting arrest within Grand Canyon National Park.
At a recent court hearing, Alberto Ancelmo Lopez, age 23, was sentenced to 90 days incarceration followed by two years of supervised probation. He must complete substance abuse treatment and is banned from Grand Canyon National Park for the duration of his probation.
The charges stemmed from an incident on December 8, 2020 on the South Rim of the park. Court documents show that US Park Rangers responded to a report of a violent altercation between two individuals. One of the individuals subsequently identified as Lopez refused the rangers’ commands and continuously resisted arrest, ultimately assaulti
