It s quite handsome with its log and brick exterior, and stepping inside transported me to another era. The lobby was dimly lit and wood-laden, with animals mounted on the walls. The rolling fireplace greeted me as I walked to the front desk to check-in.
I was relieved to see new COVID-19 protocols were being followed right away. Check-in was done with a staff member, but there were partitions. Signs requiring masks were also located throughout the lobby, along with hand sanitizer and signage noting how many people could be in certain areas at one time.
The check-in process was easy and speedy and I was off to my room in no time.

Family mourns the loss of 23-year-old who died in the Grand Canyon
The Carter family is grieving the loss of her 23-year-old son who fell 80 feet in Grand Canyon National Park.
GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK - A Phoenix man has died after falling from a trail at the Grand Canyon National Park, officials said on Dec. 16.
Park rangers said 23-year-old Jai Quan Carter was day hiking when he fell nearly 80 feet from the South Kaibab Trail Tuesday morning.
His mother, Lisa Carter, says she had no idea where her son was for days. He loved the outdoors, but he rarely made trips to the Grand Canyon.

Interior Secretary David Bernhardt has tested positive for COVID-19.
Interior spokesman Nicholas Goodwin confirmed, Secretary Bernhardt did test positive for COVID-19 today. He is currently asymptomatic and will continue to work on behalf of the American people while in quarantine.
Bernhardt s positive test results became public late tonight, the same day as a Trump administration Cabinet meeting scheduled for 11:30 a.m. at the White House. The White House typically tests visitors.
Bernhardt, 51, was not present at the meeting, which, according to the White House, was attended by just eight of 15 Cabinet secretaries, along with some other top officials.

This award recognizes an individual who has performed missions of significant consequence and valor or has actively promoted the advancement or recognition of an NPS aviation program, mission or service. This award is given to one individual, once a year.
