The Grand Forks Planning and Zoning Commission has approved the transfer of over 32 acres of land to the G-F-K to allow for a runway expansion project. The land in question lies northeast of the airport. The Grand Forks Airport Authority is also working to acquire parcels to the west. The P & Z approved the transfer on a unanimous vote. Construction on the crosswind runway is not expected until 2022.

With a wrecking ball waiting in the wings the University of North Dakota will pay tribute to the old Memorial Stadium next week.
The 1927 structure is scheduled to be razed later this month to make way for a brand new $25 million dollar building. The first floor of the complex will house UND Athletics with the remaining four floors market rent apartments.
Last month the city gave final approval to a tax incentive plan to help pave the way for the project. On Wednesday the Grand Forks Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval of the plat and amended zoning needed for construction.

More changes could be coming to the University of North Dakota footprint. The Grand Forks Planning and Zoning Commission gave preliminary approval last night (Wednesday) to a series of moves calling for the renovation and removal of several campus dorms.
In one request UND wants to demo McVey and West Halls in favor of two new buildings near Stanford and University Avenue. Interim City Planner Ryan Brooks says it’s part of a facelift for the freshman dorm area.
Brooks says the new buildings would be closer to the roadway. “It kind of defines the area with an open space in the middle. Maybe make it so the outdoor space is more usable for events in the quad area.”
