Early morning fire damages Grand Forks hotel No injuries were reported at the Quality Inn and the cause was determined to be electrical in nature. 10:39 am, Dec. 19, 2020 × Fire flames on black background. stock photo The Grand Forks Fire Department responded to a report of a fire in an air conditioning unit at the Quality Inn, at 3251 30th Ave. S, at approximately 5 a.m., on Saturday, Dec. 19. According to a release from the fire department, crews arrived on scene and found smoke inside the building, but no active fire. A fire extinguisher had been discharged on the second floor prior to their arrival. Crews cleared the smoke from the building and ensured the fire was completely extinguished. The hotel was allowed to continue operations, and guests were let back in their rooms by 6 a.m. Damage from the fire is estimated to be less than $5,000.
