GRAND RAPIDS, MI - Lisa Chang has been serving up traditional Thai dishes in Grand Rapids for nearly 11 years.
Chang’s rich relationship to Thai food precedes the opening of her restaurant, Eb Thai, located at 950 Wealthy St. SE #1A.
Growing up, her Hmong upbringing blended Southeast Asian influences in the kitchen. Chang’s parents immigrated from Laos, Thailand to the United States. She was immersed in Thai food and multiculturalism.

Hope professor confronts anti-Asian racism in debut album, fundraising concert. Jordan VanHemert, an acclaimed jazz saxophonist and composer, has released his debut album, “I Am Not a Virus.” The assistant professor of music at Hope College is planning a concert in support of the album and a #StopAsianHate fundraiser.

Grand Rapids Community College leaders are reviewing how to use a nearly $10 million donation to support student resources and modernize facilities.
The donor, Robert Richmond, passed away in 2019.
“This is an extraordinary and generous investment in GRCC, its students and our greater community,” GRCC President Bill Pink said. “Mr. Richmond saw firsthand how GRCC gave his employees the knowledge and confidence to grow and thrive. His gift will help us continue providing state-of-the-art learning spaces and other resources to make education more accessible to West Michigan residents.”
Richmond started his career with IBM, helping businesses set up computer systems. He and his wife Lois started B&L Plastics in Rockford and, later, B&L Development, where they hired interns from GRCC.
