Elijah Brown created the art for use on a shirt honoring Black History Month.The t-shirt will be sold at Meijer stores throughout the Midwest. The design features an image of a bird and a cage. The accompanying message reads, “This isn’t just a month, it’s every day for us. Brown works on his craft at West Michigan Center for Arts and Technology. (MLive file photo)Hope Davison Facebook Share GRAND RAPIDS, MI – After Grand Rapids Public Schools took a massive hit to student enrollment in the fall, school leaders are racing to track down over 830 students who left the district in an effort to bring them back next year. GRPS saw a 5% enrollment decline in fall 2020, which administrators largely attributed to the district’s decision to conduct online-only classes for the first half of the school year because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
