The country s largest car maker - Maruti Suzuki - reported total sales of 46,555 units in May 2021. Sales of its mini segment which include models such as Alto and S-Presso came in at 4,760 units. Compact segment which include cars like WagonR, Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno, Dzire and Tour S came in at 20,343 units.
Total domestic passenger car sales came in at 32,903 versus 13,702 units during the same month last year.
During the month of May, the company shut production from 1st May through 16th May so as to divert oxygen from industrial use for medical purposes. In May 2020, the company witnessed production disruption owing to lockdowns. Since neither of the two months had normal production, the sales volume of May 2021 are not comparable with May 2020, Maruti Suzuki said in a press release.
The country s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India on Wednesday said it has extended free service and warranty period up to June 30, 2021, in the wake of the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. The extension would be applicable to the free service and warranty period expiring between March 15, 2021, to May 31, 2021, the company said in a statement. Commenting on the step, Maruti Suzuki India Senior Executive Director (Service) Partho Banerjee said, Since customers in several states are facing restricted movement, this extension will give them relief. They can avail these services at their convenience, as lockdown eases. On Tuesday, Tata Motors had also announced an extended warranty and free service period till June 30, for those passenger vehicle customers whose tenures are due on April 1 and May 31, in view of the ongoing restrictions across the country due to the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
NEW DELHI: The country s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) on Thursday reported total sales of 1,67,014 units in March.
The company had sold 83,792 units in March last year amid nationwide lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Its domestic sales stood at 1,49,518 units last month. The auto major had reported sales of 76,976 units in March 2020.
Both dispatches and production were hit last year due to the Covid pandemic. Domestic sales in March 2020 had dropped about 48 per cent due to COVID related disruptions. It will be seen that domestic sales in March 2021 have only recovered to March 2019 levels, MSI said in a statement.
