Subscriber only A Sunshine Coast father has been sentenced for indecently sexually assaulting four children, including his own daughter, in the 1990s. The 61-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared via video link in Maroochydore District Court on Thursday. The man previously pleaded guilty in December to 21 counts of indecent treatment of a child, three counts of rape and two counts of maintaining an unlawful relationship with a child. The children were each aged between six and 16 years old throughout the course of the offending. The court heard on Thursday the man had been having sex with his daughter when her neighbourhood friend walked into the room in September 1990.

Subscriber only A Noosa Heads man who punched a man unconscious during a night out drinking was just trying to break up a fight, a court has heard. Zaviar Alexander Scott, 26, pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily harm to another person and was convicted in Maroochydore District Court on Monday. Scott had been out drinking with a friend in Noosa in the early hours of April 1, 2018, when two other men started arguing with his friend, the court heard. The victim and his friend had allegedly told Scott s friend he stunk . Crown prosecutor Gerry Elmore said while Scott wasn t the instigator of the fight, he did step in to try to break it up when the argument escalated.

Subscriber only A 19-year-old man has heard how his victim had to be revived after he was stabbed four times. Ethan James Voller stabbed a man four times and hit a girl over the head with a bottle of rum after a fight in Buderim on January 6, 2020. Crown prosecutor Alex Stark told the court Voller stabbed his first victim, who had tried to break up the fight in the forearm and back. The (victim) did not realise he d been injured, but he heard ⦠(Voller) say and I ll quote I ve stabbed you, you dumb C ⦠t stop , Mr Stark said.

A father found growing more than 100 marijuana plants fidgeted and cried in a Coast court while being sentenced for a string of drug offences.
Trent Anthony Malcolm was growing 111 marijuana plants and possessed a further 17.8kg of the drug when police raided a Cootharaba property on June 10, last year.
Crown prosecutor Ambyr Cousen told the court there were hydroponic setups being used to grow marijuana in five locations on the property.
“He produced the cannabis plants in his bedroom, in the caravan and in the garage area and this was a total of 2.81kg of cannabis … in various states of growth,” she said.
