Lauritzen has a degree in Ag Business from Illinois State University and an MBA from Northern Illinois University. Professionally he has earned ChFC (Chartered Financial Consultant) and RICP (Retirement Income Certified Professional) designations. After 16 years in the banking industry, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to open his own COUNTRY Financial office in 2013. He has served the community in various volunteer capacities, including the Asbury Village Board, East End Improvement Association past president and board member, United Way of Southwest Illinois 2013 Campaign chairperson and board member and St. Ambrose Catholic Church Finance Council member.

Angela Donohoo, Ronald Motil selected Madison County associate judges

Donohoo and Motil Chief Judge William Mudge announced Friday that the circuit judges of the Third Judicial Circuit selected Angela P. Donohoo and Ronald S. Motil to fill two associate judge vacancies.  “Angela Donohoo and Ron Motil bring a great deal of experience and professionalism to our bench,” Mudge stated in a press release. “They are great additions to the Third Judicial Circuit, and join an outstanding group of men and women who impartially and fairly administer justice for the people of Madison and Bond Counties. My colleagues and I look forward to working with both of them.” Associate judges are picked by the circuit s elected judges. In the Third Judicial Circuit where there are nine elected circuit judge seats, applicants must receive at least five votes, otherwise balloting goes to a subsequent round. Currently there are only eight seated circuit judges due to the retirement of circuit judge Richard Tognarelli earlier this month.

Many Riverbend teachers watched the inauguration together with their students. Garrett Flowers, History Instructor for Marquette Catholic High School, said that his students were “surprisingly interested and well informed” in the inauguration. “I have quite a few students who strongly support the president-elect and are very informed on his stances on tax and environmental reforms,” Flowers said. “On the other hand, many students are strong supporters of President Trump, are conscious of many of the contentious events unfolding, and bring up many of his economic and political stances.”
