Brookfield Aldermen Propose Electoral Map Redistricting

UpdatedMon, May 10, 2021 at 10:42 am CT Replies(2) From Alderman Mike Hallquist. Alderman Brad Blumer (7th District) and Ald. Mike Hallquist, submitted a resolution to Mayor Steve Ponto and the City Clerk s office in support of creating a nonpartisan procedure for the creation of new state legislature and congressional electoral maps. The nonbinding resolution condemns the practice commonly known as gerrymandering, stating the results are undemocratic, stifle competition, discourage compromise, incur costly litigation, and are not in the interest of Wisconsin residents. It further states that no politician or political party should choose their voters, and insists the State Legislature create a nonpartisan and independent procedure for preparing legislative and congressional electoral district maps.

The move will reduce the amount of federal money coming into Wisconsin by $2.4 billion and reduce state tax revenue by more than $1 billion compared to what the governor asked for.

Milwaukee ambulance, EMT shortage: How city adjusting 911 response

Starting Sunday, the Milwaukee Fire Department will dedicate two ambulances for lower-level 911 calls, a short-term solution to a gap in services created after one of three private ambulance companies stopped contracting with the city. The move is expected to free up fire engines and paramedic units which have been forced to spend more time on less serious 911 calls in recent months to be available  for more critical incidents, Acting Fire Chief Aaron Lipski told the Milwaukee Fire and Police Commission on Thursday. For the next five to six months, the two ambulances will supplement the department’s 12 paramedic units by absorbing calls that the remaining private ambulance services cannot take.
