We are starting to see the benefits of a national strategy to defeat COVID-19, and its success stems from the participation of Americans at every level, from health officials to the White House to the citizens who roll up their sleeves to receive vaccinations.

Wayne LaPierre, the head of the National Rifle Association (NRA), revealed in a deposition released this week that he often sought refuge on a friendâs yacht following mass shooting events in the United States.
The deposition in which LaPierre discussed his escape from the fallout from those events is part of the bankruptcy hearings currently taking place involving the NRA. The use of the yacht could be considered a conflict of interest for the organization, and in direct violation of laws regarding nonprofits.

National Rifle Association (NRA) CEO Wayne LaPierre admitted to hiding on his wealthy friend s yacht because of a security threat after deadly shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut and Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida.
In a deposition unveiled as part of the NRA s Texas bankruptcy trial on Monday, LaPierre said he used the 108-foot-yacht, named Illusions, to shelter from threats and the national outrage that followed the shootings of dozens of schoolchildren in the two incidents. They simply let me use it as a security retreat because they knew the threat that I was under. And I was basically under presidential threat without presidential security in terms of the number of threats I was getting, LaPierre said, according to the New York
Under the Twitter handle @TheCaptainAidan, the freshman tweeted photos of classmates crouched under tables in a classroom. One student could be seen checking a mobile phone.
The tweet was captioned: My school is being shot up and I am locked inside. I’m ing scared right now.
Students also posted to Snapchat to share updates. In one snap, blood can be seen on the classroom floor.
Israel described the mass shooting at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland as catastrophic.
The shooting suspect, Nikolas Cruz, was taken into custody less than a mile from the scene. The 19-year-old former Douglas student was expelled for disciplinary reasons, according to Israel.
