Ferry Bluff Eagle Council president Jeb Barzen will talk about why that is and give an update on this year s eagle spotting as part of the Feb. 6 edition of the council s series of Bald Eagle Watching Days webcasts. Also featured this week are encore presentations of a talk on eagles in Native American culture by Art Shegonee and a Q&A on rehabilitating eagles with Raptor Education Group founder Marge Gibson. Although the council s bus trips can t take place, a pair of self-guided tour maps are available for those who feel like taking a drive to spot birds in the wild.

Gardening seminar to feature nationally recognized naturalis

February 10, 2021 Nancy Lawson, founder of Humane Gardener, author, habitat consultant, national speaker on garden ecology, naturalist, and certified Chesapeake Bay Landscape Professional, will be a featured speaker at the 27th Gardening in the Northern Neck seminar. The seminar, hosted by the Northern Neck Master Gardeners (NNMG) and Virginia Cooperative Extension, will be held from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 20. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the seminar will be conducted virtually via Zoom. The theme is “Be Intentional: Create Liveable, Edible, Sustainable Garden Spaces,” said NNMG president Marge Gibson. “Other speakers will include Brie Arthur, horticulturist and foodscape consultant, and Vincent Simeone, garden writer and horticulturist.”
