Nova Scotia reports 65 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, active cases drop to 1,143

  HALIFAX Nova Scotia is reporting 65 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, the fourth consecutive day of declining new case numbers, as the active number of cases in the province drops to 1,143. In a news release from the province, it says 41 of Thursday s new cases are in the province s Central zone. Fifteen new cases were reported in the Eastern zone, seven are in the Northern zone, and two are in the Western zone. As we fight this third wave, I want to encourage Nova Scotians to keep up their efforts and continue to make the right choices, said Premier Iain Rankin in a release. Our cases are trending downward and we hope that this continues. But it will only happen if we stay home whenever possible, wear a mask, keep our distance, wash our hands, get tested and get vaccinated when it is our turn.

Nearly 4,400 graduates participated in 10 ceremonies held Friday-Sunday, and more than 37,000 people viewed the livestreamed events. Recordings of those ceremonies are accessible at the links below. Around 1,000 of the Commencement participants were 2020 graduates who were invited to take part in the 2021 ceremony after not having an in-person ceremony last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Each graduate in attendance had the opportunity to invite four guests to their ceremony. Guests unable to be in attendance were able to view the ceremonies livestreams.

Nova Scotia reports 91 new COVID-19 cases Monday, active cases drop to 1,434

  HALIFAX Nova Scotia is reporting 91 new COVID-19 cases Monday, as the active number of cases in the province drops to 1,434. In a news release from the province, it says 66 of the cases are in the province s Central zone. Seventeen new cases were reported in the Eastern zone, five are in the Northern zone, and three are in the Western zone. Two of the new cases in the Central zone involve patients in a non-COVID unit at the Halifax Infirmary site of the QEII Health Sciences Centre. Health officials say those patients have been transferred to the COVID-19 unit, and all other patients in the non-COVID unit have tested negative and are being closely monitored. As a precaution, Nova Scotia Health Authority is testing staff and doctors who have worked in the unit.
