Toy trains have long been associated with Christmas and historians believe the tradition dates back at least a century to the era when American manufacturer Lionel began to produce the first electric toy trains.
Over the past hundred years, many thousands of boys and girls were thrilled to find that Santa had delivered a much yearned-for train set on Christmas Eve.
This festive season, Boherbue residents received the gift of a beautiful train courtesy of local man Martin Lucey. It now takes pride of place at Angland s on the Mallow Road on the outskirts of the village.
Several members of Boherbue Tidy Towns and volunteers helped out with the project over the past few months.
