LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Opening statements began in the murder trial for Chance Lee Copeland, 32, of Lubbock. He has been charged with the June 3, 2019 murder of 37-year-old Cassie Oden.

The Assistant District Attorney Cassie Nesbitt started by saying Copeland fired six shots at a car Cassie Oden was driving while she was trying to get away from him.
“You are not going to like some of the things some of the witnesses are involved with. They were involved in drug transactions but that doesn’t give this defendant the right to commit a murder,” she stated.
Big Spring crews working to repair water main break

BIG SPRING, Texas The City of Big Spring is warning citizens about a large water main break at 9th and Douglas.
According to city officials, crews are working to restore water service as quickly as possible but there is currently no estimated time for the repairs to be complete.
Customers from Martin Luther King Boulevard to the north side of town will likely experience low to no water pressure as repairs are being made.
Terrebonne fights legal battle over Hollywood Road construction delays

Terrebonne Parish government has filed a federal lawsuit in an effort to obtain testimony from two federal employees in a financial dispute involving the Hollywood Road widening project.
Conti Enterprises Inc., a developer based in New Jersey, filed a lawsuit in 2015 in state District Court in Houma. It seeks millions of dollars in damages associated with road delays from Providence, the parish s engineering firm based in Houma; parish government and the state Transportation Department.
Conti claims it is owed more than $2.3 million for direct costs and over $2.2 million for overhead costs incurred for 324 days of delay on the busy Houma road.
