Boy, 12, dies in ATV rollover crash in west central Minnesota It happened in Renville County. Author: Pixabay Authorities are investigating an ATV crash that left a young boy dead in west central Minnesota this weekend.  It happened Saturday morning in Martinsburg Township, Renville County. The local sheriff says two boys were riding an ATV in a ditch when the vehicle rolled, resulting in the death of 12-year-old Carsten Homan of nearby Hector, Minnesota. He was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other boy, who has not been identified, was not injured in the accident.  This may be Minnesota s first reported ATV death of 2021; last year, about two dozen people died riding all-terrain vehicles in the state, according to DNR data. The death toll for 2020 was about double that of the year before.

12-year-old killed in ATV crash in Renville County, Minn. Published  MARTINSBURG TOWNSHIP, Minn. (FOX 9) - A 12-year-old boy has died after an all-terrain vehicle rollover Saturday morning in Renville County, Minnesota. Deputies say crews were called just after 9:30 a.m. for the report of the crash with one boy trapped along the 73000 block of 510th Street in Martinsburg Township, six miles south of Buffalo Lake. At the scene, investigators learned the ATV had rolled while two boys were riding in a road ditch and hit a field approach, causing the ATV to flip. Deputies say 12-year-old Carsten Homan of Hector, Minnesota was pronounced dead at the scene. The other boy riding the ATV was not hurt.
