Cameron Man Convicted of Fleeing, Meth Possession | News, Sports, Jobs

From Staff Reports A Cameron man was convicted Wednesday on a felony charge of fleeing an officer, along with misdemeanor charge of methamphetamine possession. Marshall County Prosecuting Attorney Joe Canestraro said James A. Vipperman, 34, of Cameron was convicted of fleeing in a vehicle from an officer with reckless indifference for the safety of others, as well as meth possession. The conviction came following a one-day jury trial. Vipperman will be sentenced at a later date. He faces between one and five years in prison for the fleeing conviction and between 90 days to six months for drug possession. He previously had been convicted of at least one felony offense in West Virginia.

No injuries were reported after several Marshall County fire departments responded to an early morning vacant house fire at 79 Oak Ave., Moundsville. According to Moundsville Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief Danny Holmes, they received a call at approximately 4:40 a.m. of possible electrical arcing on a utility pole outside the residence. He said the Moundsville Police Department arrived on the scene first and reported a fire in progress. Holmes said when the fire department arrived on the scene a fire had already begun on the first floor of the structure.
