CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, May 7 (PIA) The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-10 reminds the public to strictly follow the minimum public health standards set by the government as tourism sites reopen in the region.
DILG-10 Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe said in the omnibus guidelines, opening or reopening of tourism sites or limited tourist attractions including farms, parks, theme parks, natural sites and historical landmarks are already allowed in Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) areas. The limited opening of tourism sites is also based on the Department of Tourism (DOT) Administrative Order No. 2021-001 where Section 6 provides that tourist attractions will be allowed to operate in areas under GCQ [General Community Quarantine] and MGCQ subject to maximum venue capacities, for MGCQ areas, that is 75 percent, said Agabe.

In a press conference Friday, Defensor clarified that resorts and other tourist destinations under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) are allowed by the national government.
“It is allowed as long as it can only allow 50 percent of its capacity,” Defensor reiterated.
Last month, Defensor was seriously considering closing tourist spots in the 42 towns and component city of Passi as gatherings of many people may contribute to surge of COVID-19 cases.
But Defensor pointed out that tourist spots have to implement the provincial government’s rules.
“For instance, resorts should only allow people from the same household to visit,” Defensor said.

Batangas City will allow PBA teams the option to hold regular practices inside the city once protocols and necessary requirements are finalized.
PBA commissioner Willie Marcial and San Miguel Corporation sports director Alfrancis Chua received a nod of approval from Mayor Beverly Dimacuha and Batangas fifth district representative Marvey Marino during talks held Saturday.
Marcial also said that Games and Amusements Board chairman Baham Mitra, whose agency is part of the Joint Administrative Order, is also backing the proposal aimed to help teams resume practice despite the current COVID-19 situation.
Other details will be ironed out before the venues, including the Batangas City Sports Center, can welcome the teams.
