The inaugural Migration Media Awards will recognise the work of 35 journalists from 16 countries who had reported on the migration to the Euro-Mediterranean region. The entries were selected based on the objective and information-based reporting of the challenges and opportunities of such a complex subject.
The international jury consisted of senior journalists and evaluated more than 120 English, French, and Arabic entries that were submitted in the video, print, online, and radio categories. The Migration Media Awards is funded by the European Union and was developed in collaboration with EUROMED Migration IV, OPEN Media Hub projects, the European Asylum Support Office, and Malta s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Estonian ambassador to Malta presented his credentials

On Thursday 25 February, Paul Teesalu, Estonia’s new ambassador to the Republic of Malta, presented his credentials to the President of Malta George Vella in Valletta. The ambassador resides in Rome.
Following the presentation ceremony, Ambassador Paul Teesalu and the President of Malta George Vella discussed international affairs and also spoke about developing bilateral relations.
The Estonian ambassador and the president noted the shared interests of the two countries and similar positions on many important foreign policy issues. “I can see possibilities for enhanced information exchange between Estonia and Malta on what is happening in Europe’s immediate neighbourhood,” Ambassador Teesalu said. “Both countries consider it important that globally, Europe’s voice is heard and united,” he said.
