Some polling station executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Wenchi Constituency of the Bono Region have called for swift investigations into what they described as ‘corrupt administration’ of Dr Kwakye Afriyie, the Wenchi Municipal Chief Executive.
The Executives called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to terminate the appointment and to replace the Chief Executive, whom the alleged had made the NPP unpopular in the eyes of the masses at the constituency.
“The NPP in the constituency has completed broken down. Dr. Afriyie has deliberately divided the party here. Currently, there is a rift within the rank and file and President Akufo-Addo must replace the MCE in the supreme interest of the party “, they alleged at a news conference held at Wenchi.

‘I’ll ensure effective grass-roots inclusion in devt’

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Akim Oda Constituency in the Eastern Region,Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has assured his constituents he willensure effective and efficient grass roots participation to accelerate socioeconomic development of the Constituency.
He explained that without such an agenda socioeconomic development could not be accelerated to improve livelihoods.
Mr Acquah made this known as part of a strategic means to reach out to the people for effective and efficient participation in socioeconomic development when he inaugurated seven committees for the area.
The committees, among other issues, are to help, support and assist the MP successfully execute his duties and regularly touch base with the grassroots for effective and efficient decision-making.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says government, through the Ministry of Local Government and the District Assembly Common Fund, has commenced the construction of 90 courts with accompanying accommodation for judges across the country.
He said the initiative was to help address the problem of inadequate court infrastructure and that the structures were at advanced stages of completion.
Delivering his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Parliament on Tuesday, after his reelection in 2020, the President said through the same medium, 20 townhouses and a guesthouse were being built to be used as permanent residences for Court of Appeal Judges based in Kumasi, who were mandated to handle cases in the northern part of the country.
