New Delhi, May 10 : Puducherry has become a Har Ghar Jal Union Territory (UT) by ensuring that every rural home in the UT gets household tap connection.
With this, the UT became the fourth state/UT after Goa, Telangana and Andaman and Nicobar Islands to provide assured tap water supply to every rural home under the Union government s flagship Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).
All 1.16 lakh rural households in Puducherry have tap water supply now. The UT has achieved the Har Ghar Jal status much ahead of the fixed target.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said coal sector will play a very important role in achieving the target of $5 trillion economy by 2022, the year marking the completion of 75 years of the country s Independence.
Launching a single window clearance system for the coal sector, he said commercial coal mining auctions will now facilitate small and medium industries to receive coal supplies easily. The home minister said the coal sector has crossed an important milestone towards fulfilling the dream of Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self reliant India) under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Tap Water Connections Reach Over 6 Crore Rural Households 70
New Delhi: 278 lakh Households (HHs) have been provided tap water connections under Jal Jeevan Mission which was announced on 15 August, 2019. At present 6.01 Crore rural households in the country are getting potable water in their households through taps. 18 districts across the country have provided tap connections to all households and States are competing with each other to ensure tap water supply to every home. The Ministry of Jal Shakti has been implementing Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), in partnership with States with an aim to provide potable water in adequate quantity of prescribed quality on regular and long-term basis through tap connections to every rural home in the country by 2024.
