Udhampur: To sensitize the common people about ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ scheme, Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) project Udhampur, in convergence with other allied departments organized a day long awareness programme at Panchayat Sundrani Block Tikri.
District Development Council Chairperson, Udhampur, Lal Chand was the chief guest, while DDC member Tikri, Ashu Sharma, DDC member, Majalta, Amit Sharma, DDC member Latti-Marothi, Pinky Devi also participated in the programme.
Programme Officer, ICDS, Attar Chand, who is also the Nodal Officer of BBBP, briefed about the annual action plan under the scheme and the interventions like mass awareness campaign, capacity building and multi sectoral interventions made at various levels to improve the Child Sex Ratio.

Kathua: Chairman Indian Red Cross Society, Kathua, Om Prakash (Deputy Commissioner) today distributed hygiene kits, warm clothes and masks among the inmates of Nari Niketan here today.
Executive Secretary IRCS Kathua, Om Parkash Sharma; Superintendent Nari Niketan, Neelam Rani; District Social Welfare Officer, Abdul Rahim; DIO Parshotam Dass; TSWO Vishav Sharma; YRC/JRC Coordinator, Er. Vivek Sharma; Executive Committee Member, Khem Raj Sharma; Red Cross Assistant, Puran Parshad Sharma and Volunteers of Red Cross Kathua were present on the occasion.
While interacting with staff and the inmates, the DC assured that arrangements for a tutor, besides provision of beautification training and a computer for the inmates will be made by district administration at the earliest. He directed superintendent to motivate the inmates to pursue skill trainings in different trades so that they can become self reliant.

Marathon taken out to highlight women’s issues
A marathon was organised by the District Level Centre for Women here on Sunday to highlight the issues faced by women and create an awareness of the institutions that provide help for the women in distress.
B. Vinodha, District Women Welfare Officer, said the marathon was organised to mark the anniversary of the Nirbhaya gang rape of December 16. Members of various non-governmental organisations, school and college students participated in the marathon. Starting from the Collectorate, the marathon coursed through KK Nagar and returned to the Collectorate.
