Building scheduled to reopen on Tuesday

LEWISTOWN Mifflin County School District announced Wednesday that East Derry Elementary School would be closed through at least Monday after a second individual at the school tested positive for COVID-19.
The school plans to reopen for in-person instruction on Tuesday.
During the closure, EDES students will engage in fully-remote learning, the district said. The district also said the building would receive extra cleaning in accordance with Pennsylvania Department of Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.
Classified as a “small” school by the state, EDES must close if two or more active positive cases are known within the student body or staff.

LEWISTOWN Mifflin County Middle School in Lewistown is being forced to close for several days due to the number of COVID-19 cases among students and staff, the Mifflin County School District announced on Tuesday.
Mifflin County Middle School is closed Tuesday through Thursday and are tenatively scheduled to reopen for in-person instruction on Friday. For Wednesday and Thursday of this week, MCMS teachers will execute a full remote learning plan to include synchronous live sessions for the students. A plan for the students will be sent via email to all MCMS parents and will be posted on the MCMS website.

MCHS is the latest Mifflin County School District building forced to temporarily close due to having too many COVID-19 positive tests within it. On Monday, MCHS joined Strodes Mills Elementary School and Mifflin County Junior High School as schools forced to shutter for a few days just this week. The Mifflin County Academy of Science and Technology also had to temporarily close this week due to COVID cases among students and staff.

STRODES MILLS Mifflin County School District announced Thursday it will close Strodes Mills Elementary School through Tuesday due to a second positive COVID-19 test result among its students.
MCSD said the closure is recommended under guidelines from the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
The district said it tenatively planned to reopen SMES for in-person instruction Wednesday and the school building would receive extra cleaning during the closure.
Mifflin County students already had Friday and Monday as scheduled off days. SMES students will learn remotely on Tuesday, the district said.
All other MCSD buildings remain open as normal.
