Health officials say this year’s U.S. measles epidemic has surpassed 1,000 illnesses. It’s already the highest in 27 years. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated the count Wednesday, saying 1,001 illnesses have been reported since the beginning of the year. A bill to end Maine’s religious and philosophical exemptions to vaccines is heading to the governor’s desk. The Senate voted 19-16 Thursday to enact the bill. Gov.
