The Gordon’s Creek Commons will provide another route into the downtown area, running along the perimeter of one of Hattiesburg’s major natural resources. “It has long been a vision for our city to transform Gordon’s Creek from an unsightly drainage ditch to an amenity that can enhance the quality of life in neighborhoods across the city,” Hattiesburg Mayor Toby Barker said during the project’s announcement Thursday.

(WLOX) - Drivers in Ocean Springs have one week to get their detour plans ready. The Mississippi Department of Transportation announced the Ft. Bayou Bridge on Highway 609 will close March 14 at 10 p.m. The bridge is expected to be closed for 45 days as the Mississippi Department of Transportation completes a $20 million repair project. During the 45-day closure, crews will work to replace the bridge shafts. This means drivers will have to take an alternate route when trying to access the interstate from downtown Ocean Springs and vice versa.
