Since the virus hit the state in March 2020, a total of 312,712 cases and 7,223 coronavirus-related deaths have been reported. The health department reported Wednesday that 114 cases previously reported were determined not to be caused by COVID-19, and have been removed from state and county totals. According to a New York Times database Wednesday, at least 720 new coronavirus deaths and 40,531 new cases were reported in the U.S. on Tuesday. Over the past week, there has been an average of 48,003 cases per day, a decrease of 26% from the average two weeks earlier.
