The Michigan Department of Natural Resources recently shared a recipe for small game from 1742. “Jugged hare” was a common meal among early European colonists in North America and, of course, Michigan.

Man killed on Devils Lake when snowmobile crashed into ice shanty

The Daily Telegram ROLLIN TWP. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the death of an ice fisherman who was inside a shanty when it was struck by a snowmobile on Devils Lake.  According to Lt. Todd Szyska, Michigan Department of Natural Resources law enforcement supervisor in southeast Michigan, emergency personnel were dispatched at 7:23 p.m. Saturday to the south end of Devils Lake with information about a snowmobile that crashed into an ice fishing shanty, dispatching DNR officers and a unit with the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office to the scene.  Szyska said when officers arrived, they saw debris all over the ice from the ice shanty and found a 28-year-old Jerome man who had been inside the shanty, lying unconscious within the debris.
