Amid a surge in COVID-19 cases across the state and country, some area libraries are scaling back services and returning to curbside service only. Still, patrons can take part in various virtual programs. Here s a look at what s planned at libraries in the Anchor Bay area. Chesterfield Township Library The Chesterfield Township Library is closed to in-person visits but continues to offer curbside pickup, expanded online services and telephone reference. - Advertisement - Curbside pickup is available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday by calling the library. Library of Things items continue to be available for checkout through curbside pickup. These items include board games, American Girl dolls, booster packs which contain books, educational games and educational activities to engage young readers, telescopes, a 3D printer, a ukulele, a lap harp and more.

States’ 4-H International Exchange Programs celebrates partnership with Michigan 4-H International Exchange with a decade in review. States’ 4-H International Exchange Program has been offering international exchanges for almost 50 years. Michigan 4-H has partnered with States’ 4-H International Exchange Program for over 47 years learn more about this partnership. States’ 4-H International Exchange Program started with LABO Foundation in Japan exchanging with the states of Washington and Idaho. Now the organization partners with 23 states in the United States and the program has grown to exchange programs with over 31 countries across six continents. Nearly 60,000 youth and families have been positively impacted through these international opportunities to learn about the cultures in our world.

Prescription for fruits, vegetables available in several Northern Michigan communities   Compiled by Michelle Graves, mgraves@pioneergroup.com Dec. 22, 2020 FacebookTwitterEmail MANISTEE Residents of Crawford, Missaukee, Manistee and Wexford Counties can now receive a prescription for free fruits and vegetables, as well as access to free virtual nutrition education through the Fruit & Vegetable Prescription Program. The program is funded through the Michigan Health Endowment Fund, designed specifically to support individual and community health and is made possible by several partners including, District Health Department #10, Munson Healthcare and Michigan State University Extension. The program is based on a successful pilot program from Washtenaw County and came to Northern Michigan several years ago. It has since expanded several times to include new communities across the region.
