Former Treasurer Of Northern Michigan Fair Arrested For Embezzlement

9 & 10 News May 24, 2021 A woman from Buckley was arraigned on Thursday, May 20 for embezzling money from the Northwestern Michigan Fair Association. The Michigan State Police Cadillac Post was contacted in February 2020 by the president of NWMFA to investigate an alleged embezzlement complaint. Jillian Marie Noel, former treasurer at NWMFA was asked to explain charges an accountant discovered on a July 2019 bank statement. Further investigation showed irregularities going back as far as November 2016. The year-long investigation revealed Noel embezzled over $52,000. During the investigation, Noel left the state and went to Florida. A warrant was authorized in March 2021 for Noel. While in Florida Noel was contacted by her attorney and was advised to turn herself in.

Two extracted from vehicle after Tuesday morning crash in Wexford County

CADILLAC — Two people had to be extracted from their vehicle Tuesday morning after a collision south of Cadillac. According to a Michigan State Police press release, on Tuesday at approximately 8:55 a.m., a trooper from the Michigan State Police Cadillac Post was dispatched to a two-vehicle crash on Mitchell Street and Mackinaw Trail Highway in Clam Lake Township. A 2008 Jeep Liberty driven by 57-year-old man from Interlochen with two passengers ran a red light and struck a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 63- year-old Cadillac man that was turning left onto northbound Mitchell from Mackinaw Trail Highway. There were no reported injuries at the scene, however the two passengers in the Jeep Liberty, a 36-year-old Traverse City man and a 37-year-old Traverse City woman, had to be extracted from the vehicle by the Cadillac Fire Department.

Police identify homicide victim in Northern Michigan, female suspect in custody Updated Mar 17, 2021; NORMAN TOWNSHIP, MI – Police have identified a 56-year-old suspected homicide victim in Northern Michigan. William Joseph Johnson of Wellston was found dead in his home in Manistee County’s Norman Township. Troopers from the Michigan State Police Cadillac Post are investigating the incident as a homicide. A 40-year-old woman from Cadillac has been arrested and is lodged in the Manistee County Jail, police said. There is no danger to the public. The MSP Grayling Crime Lab is on scene and the medical examiner is on the way to determine the cause and time of death.
