The victim, Jose Medero, was found dead from a gunshot wound early Saturday morning by New Brunswick police officers on patrol near the city intersection of Seaman Street and Remsen Avenue, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office. Investigators later determined that John Santanna, 20, shot Medero, authorities said. Police did not offer a motive in the killing and it was not immediately clear whether Santanna had retained an attorney.
