COVID-19 Positivity Rate Down According to Midland Health Midland is seeing the lowest level of COVID-19 positivity since September. According to the Midland Reporter-Telegram, Midland Health test centers had a positivity rate of 12.2% which is the lowest since 11.5% back in September. Midland Health is also reporting that they have had four weeks of declines in positivity rates and also that 14 percent of the total rooms in Midland Memorial Hospital are being used on COVID patients. That is also the lowest rate of rooms being used for COVID patients since early October when those rates began spiking. Currently there are 17 in the Critical Care Unit and 13 on the COVID Floor, overall 67% of the 284 total hospital rooms are occupied within Midland Memorial Hospital.

Victim Shot to Death During Bar Fight   MIDLAND, TX – A fight at the El Mitote Sports Lounge turned deadly after a patron was shot to death. According to the Midland Police Department, the shooting occurred around 2:00 a.m. on Saturday. The preliminary investigation revealed that a verbal altercation broke out outside the bar at closing time. The argument turned physical and then Juan M. Anguiano was shot. Anguiano was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Officers discovered multiple suspects were involved in the shooting, but they fled the scene before police arrived.
