Man killed in crash involving MnDOT truck remembered as a joy to be around
The wreck happened May 19 on I-35W in Minneapolis.

Samuel Spratt of Richfield was behind the wheel of a Nissan Versa around 8:30 p.m. on May 19. The 25-year-old was heading southbound in I-35W near 50th Street in Minneapolis, where MnDOT trucks were doing debris clean up on the right-hand shoulder, emergency lights illuminated.
According to the State Patrol s incident report, traffic was slowing down and merging to the left. Spratt allegedly overcorrected because of the reduced speed, and in the process, lost control. The Versa then went back across the slowed traffic, made impact with a MnDOT truck, then hit the concrete sound wall.
In the south metro, paving will shut down the southbound lanes of I-35W from I-494 in Bloomington to Cliff Road in Burnsville. In the east metro, Highway 52 is closing for the fourth weekend in a row.

Much like last weekend, if you re heading up to the Twin Cities this weekend, watch out for a section of Highway-52 that will be closed.
And, unlike last weekend, when coming back south to Rochester was impacted, this weekend, going UP to the Twin Cities along northbound Highway-52 (which we ve all traveled on too many times to count, right?) could take you some extra time.
That s because the section of southbound Highway-52 (U.S. Highway 52, if you re being all specific) between I-494 in Inver Grove Heights north to I-94 in Saint Paul will be closed. The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) says that the northbound stretch of Highway-52 starting at I-494 north to Plato Blvd will be closed from 9 pm Friday, May 14th through 5 am Monday, May 17th.

Every morning, Amy Rosenthal and her 15-year-old terrier poodle mix take a 45-minute walk in and around downtown Minneapolis. About 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, their ever-changing route brought them to the West River Parkway, where they headed east under the Hennepin Avenue Bridge, toward First Bridge Park.
That s when she heard the very unusual message emanating from the little speaker affixed to the bright orange Trail Closed Ahead sign.
