Mankato, MN (KROC-AM News) - The death of a young child in southern Minnesota has been ruled a homicide.
A news release issued today by the City of Mankato says the determination by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner s Office led to the arrest of a teenage boy. The 16-year-old was taken into custody on Wednesday and now faces a second-degree murder charge stemming from the death of a two-year-old boy on April 16th. The teenage suspect is currently being held in a secured juvenile facility.
According to the Mankato Free Press, the criminal complaint against Lee Wayne Young Jr. alleges the toddler was beaten to death and sexually assaulted.

Minnesota Gov. Walz signs law for emergency funding to cover Wright demonstrations

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WKBT) Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz signed a bill into law Tuesday that will provide emergency funding to two state agencies, Ohio and Nebraska to cover costs associated with protests in Brooklyn Center after a police officer shot Daunte Wright to death on April 11.
The law is to provide deficiency funding to the state Department of Natural Resources and the Department of Public Safety to cover unanticipated expenses in response to protests and public safety concerns in Brooklyn Center and surrounding communities after former Brooklyn Center police officer Kim Potter shot the 20-year-old Wright.

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. A former owner of a Detroit Lakes, Minn., massage parlor has been hit with 22 felony tax charges in Becker County District Court.
Jinlan Li, 62, of rural Hawley, Minn., is charged with six counts of failing to file taxes, 11 counts of failing to pay or collect sales taxes, and five counts of filing false or fraudulent tax returns. She owes more than $119,000 in unpaid income and sales taxes, according to a criminal complaint.
