After Governor Tim Walz announced his back to school plan for Minnesota middle and high schools, area teachers unions weighed in on what it will take to return safely.
MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - Teachers unions in the Twin Cities metro are voicing concerns over Gov. Tim Walz s new directive for all Minnesota schools to offer a form of in-person learning by March 8.
While some school districts have already brought middle and high school students back to the classroom, two of the state’s largest school districts, Minneapolis and Saint Paul, have not.

Judge rules district can’t force Minneapolis teachers to return to in-person classes
A judge has sided with a teachers union this weekend, ruling that Minneapolis Public Schools can t require teachers to return to class if they have requested accommodations to work from home.
(FOX 9) - A judge has ruled that Minneapolis Public Schools can t require teachers to return to class if they have requested accommodations to work from home.
Some teachers were set to return to school on Monday for the first time since March, when the pandemic sent students and teachers to work from home.
