Yet, it was while working in a Minneapolis suburb, that a CNN correspondent went viral after she tweeted her exasperation and disbelief when police threatened to arrest journalists covering protests over the killing of Daunte Wright.
“In my 25 years as a reporter I have NEVER heard police in America actually say “journalists will be arrested” during a protest,” wrote Sara Sidner.
“But that happened in #BrooklynCenter last night.”
Adding an image from the scene of the protests, she added: “We stayed. The citizens are why we stay. I took this moments after the announcement.”

Daunte Wright shooting: No dispersal order issued amid fifth night of protests in Minnesota

For the fifth straight night, a crowd gathered outside the Brooklyn Center police station in Minnesota on Thursday to protest the fatal police shooting of 20-year-old Daunte Wright. Reports indicate Thursdayâs demonstrations were much calmer than previous nights.
The Minneapolis Star Tribune and WCCO-TV in Minneapolis reports that police did not issue a dispersal order on Thursday after a 10 p.m. curfew came and went. Even as about 200 to 300 people remained immediately following the implementation of the curfew, officers did not attempt to break up the crowd.
