El Paso Electric files two-year, electric vehicle infrastructure incentivization plan in New Mexico Published on January 12, 2021 by Chris Galford © Shutterstock Regional electric utility El Paso Electric (EPE) filed its Transportation Electrification Plan (TEP) with the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (NMPRC) last week, providing a two-year idea for increasing electric vehicle (EV) use through new smart infrastructure programs. The company intends to grow EV usage among its more than 440,000 customers through incentivization efforts that include rebate and pilot rate programs. It also intends to challenge preconceived notions or lack of awareness on the benefits of EVs through a customer outreach program meant to improve familiarity with and knowledge of electrification.

El Paso Electric files transportation electrification plan with the New Mexico PRC El Paso Electric (EPE) has filed its Transportation Electrification Plan (TEP) with the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (NMPRC) for approval. The overarching goal of this two-year plan is to increase the use of electric vehicles (EVs) by incentivizing the installation and usage of smart charging infrastructure through rebate and pilot rate programs while, addressing the challenges associated with the lack of awareness of both the technology and benefits of EVs. EPE’s TEP includes: A Customer Outreach Program to improve familiarity and awareness of EVs, and the benefits of transportation electrification.
