The number of people missing in the building collapse currently stands at 150, while the number of people who were in the building at the time of the disaster but survived stands at 136, according to Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, who promised to “get to the bottom” of the matter in the investigation to determine the causes of the tragedy.

SURFSIDE, Fla. – As rescuers sifted through the debris of a collapsed Florida condo building Monday in desperate hope of finding survivors, questions about what brought the structure down only intensified. The death toll from the collapse rose to 11 after first responders pulled two bodies from the site Monday, said Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, who updated the number of fatalities from 10 at an afternoon news conference. Four victims were taken out of the Champlain Towers South rubble Sunday. Levine Cava said 150 people remain unaccounted for.

About 150 people are still missing. Authorities continue their search as the death toll climbed to 11 without a single survivor recovered since hours after the building fell. Some family members have taken buses to a location near the scene of the incident hoping their visit would allow them to shout the names of their loved ones. Others walked side-by-side with their arms around each other as they anxiously awaited an answer as others prayed and hugged one another.
