First-draft Millcreek school budget is $1 3 million out of balance

But that s likely to change before the Millcreek Township School Board approves the budget this spring. This is a first draft. And it s very early. A lot of things that impact our budget still have to be worked out, Aaron O Toole, the district s director of finance and operations, told school directors Monday night. Expenditures next school year so far are projected at about $106.1 million. Revenues are estimated at $104.8 million. The district has been challenging property assessments to help increase local tax revenues, O Toole said. Those efforts have helped increase the assessed value of taxable properties in the district by about $124 million over the last seven years, he said.

The Millcreek Township School District is standing alone in its fight to change the way that local school districts pay for improvements to the Erie County Technical School. Ten of the 11 Erie County school districts that send students to the technical school have voted to move forward with the school s planned $27,775,000 renovation project and to pay their share of that cost based on the current funding agreement.
